Recharge and Return to Blogging

It's been awhile since I've had anything to share around here... mainly because I haven't been doing much cooking since the end of February.  What?!?!

Well, in the beginning of March my back decided I needed to take a break in a big way... major pain that kept me in bed for much longer than any busy person wants to be there.  A pinched nerve takes awhile to get better and I can finally say that I'm getting closer to being back to 100% again.

I don't have an official diagnosis because the insurance company wouldn't approve a test that would have told us what was causing the pain... and, since I'm doing so much better now they really won't ok doing the test.  It is what it is... I'm happy to be feeling better and walking without a limp at this point.

Luckily, I was doing well enough for us to go on our planned spring break vacation to Jamaica!  This meant shopping on-line for new sandals that did not have a heal (ALL of my shoes have heals since I'm not very tall... ), and I'm still not quite ready to jump back into my regular shoes.  Which is ok, because I am loving my new flat shoes - who would have thought that would happen?

But, they really are very cute... and comfortable, too!  Both DSW and Zappos were a pleasure to shop and order from since I couldn't make it out to the stirred to do the shopping in person.

I have to tell you that Jamaica or really any island is a great way to continue to recover from what ails you.  Resting on a lounge chair and looking out into the beautiful waves each day did me a lot of good and made me feel refreshed.  I'll be sharing more on the resort that we stayed at very soon - we absolutely loved it and had the best time!

Of course, now we are back about a week and life is back to its hectic pace.  I was just getting ready to plan meals for next week - I'm back to cooking again! - only to realize that baseball season is in full swing (quite literally) and dinner will have to be quick and easy.  In addition to that, I'm back to watching portion sizes and calories since spending over a month not being able to be physically active has not the best way to maintain (or lose) the extra pounds that seem to have found me this winter.

Hopefully, I still have a few faithful readers out there in spite of the crickets that you've been hearing around here... I've recharged and am ready to get back to blogging since it really does make me happy to share recipes and other tidbits here.

It may take a little time to get back in the swing of posting regularly, so I do hope you'll hang in there and see what I'm up to.  To make sure you know when there is something new to read, be sure to sign up for email updates (located in the right side-bar).

Have a fabulous weekend!

Thanks, Meghan! It was the first time I've ever had a back issue and the pain was excruciating! I'm so happy that I'm past that and getting back to moving around normally again.

So glad you are better, back problems will drain you! And I bet your trip was amazing! I'm in same boat, not cooking as much and trying to lose a few... :)
