Blog Tour
I was pleasantly surprised when I received a message from my friend, Sandy Smith, asking if she could feature FamFriendsFood on a Blog Tour post she was putting together last week over at Eat Real.
Sandy is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to pastries or running for miles! A few years back, I had the pleasure of meeting her after I had taken a class at the Culinary Institute of America. We spent a bit of time chatting over coffee and generally having a lovely time that afternoon. I do wish we could have found time to get together so that we could bake together!
You've got to check out some of her fabulous recipes! I've had her Cranberry Orange Nut Muffins bookmarked and am so glad I revisited my list for this post so that I can bump this one up to make as soon as I can get a hold of cranberries!
I rediscovered empanadas recently, and knowing that Sandy's recipes are tried-and-true I'm sure that I'll be able to recreate them at home!
1. What am I working on?
My primary writing focus is right here, FamFriendsFood! I have written for other sites in the past, but in the last year I've come back to where I started writing.
2. How does my work differ than others of its genre? While I primarily focus on recipes, and over time I have added bits about our life, travel and restaurant reviews. I love sharing what my personal experience has been so that others can get a sneak peak into recipes, cookbooks, restaurants and places to visit before they decide to try it themselves.
3. Why do I write what I do? Well, I do love food and sharing it with people I care about brings me pleasure. In doing this, I've learned so many different things and even gone out of my comfort zone to try new things in the kitchen and new foods. It's also important to me to have a place where I can refer back and find those recipes that really worked for me and one day, I hope My Boys and other family members will use this site for the same reason.
4. How does my writing process work?
I'm not sure that I have an actual "process" to describe... it's more like a stream-of-consciousness at times and the words just flow for me. At other times, I envision sitting at the kitchen table talking directly to my readers about that day's post... very conversational. What you read here, is totally me.... even when we meet in person.
Now, I'd like to share my pick's for blogs I'd like to feature!
First up is Cate who writes Sweetnicks! I've been reading her blog since before I really knew what blogging was all about. I loved her style and her ability to intertwine her life with recipes. I've had the pleasure of hanging out with her a few times (luckily, we live one town away from each other!).
We've gotten together a few times to have a Blogger's Thanksgiving, which has often ended up being a spin on the holiday to suit our tastes! One of my favorites from last year was her Baked Goat Cheese and Roasted Tomato Salad with Grilled Chicken... it was truly a great flavor combination, that had me WANTING to eat more salad!
More recently, she shared Peanut Butter and Nutella Cookies, that have me drooling! I can't wait to make these to share!
Next, I'd like to introduce you to Michelle who writes Taste as You Go. When you visit her site, you will find beautiful photos of the food she has prepared and weekly meal plans that she really uses to get her through the week. I love that she shares reviews of places that are not too far from me so that I can get that "sneak peek" into what a place is like before we decide to head there ourselves.
I love cannolis, but Michelle's Chocolate Chip Cannoli Bites are adorable and totally doable for someone who isn't up for trying to roll the pastry into the right shape.
With the start of football season coming soon, I'm going to have to try her Pepperoni Pizza Potato Skins! Perfect game day party food!
It was a lot of fun to go back and read through some older posts from these fabulous writers! I found some recipes I had forgotten reading about and bookmarked them to try! Please go visit these wonderful sites and see what more they have to offer!
Please note that all photos and content belong to Patsy Kreitman, unless otherwise noted. If you want to use something please ask first.
